Today I went to the going out of business sale of a chain cd and movie place and picked up a few things:

The "Crime Wave" box set including:

Escape from Death Row - Lee Van Cleef!

Mob War

Family Enforcer - Joe Pesci

Hit Lady

High Risk

The Master Touch - Kirk Douglas!

The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery - Steve McQueen

The Squeeze - Lee Van Cleef!

Midnight Cop - Michael York, Frank Stallone

and Mitchell!!!

also, I got
Peckinpah's "The Getaway"
"Return of the Living Dead"
and "The Poseidon Adventure"

I'm most curious about the "Crime Wave" deal.  I mostly got it for Lee Van Cleef and "Mitchell."   Anyone have comments or suggestions for maximum viewing pleasure?  I may have to start with my my my my Mitchell....  I've never seen the non-MST version.

HIGH RISK has its moments, and a fairly good supporting cast: Anthony Quinn, James Coburn, and Ernest Borgnine. In addition to starring James Brolin and Cleavon Little. A decent action/comedy made a little better because of the cast.

Does it still use the Rolling Stones song "Satisfaction" when the pilots make their rescue? Licensing that song might have cost as much as the whole movie.

Escape From Death Row is a terrible, Italian, Lee van Cleef movie. I saw it in the 1980s when I worked in a video store. If I remember correctly, Lee goes to prison (briefly), but he is not on death row, and there is no escape involved.

Overall - Great B-Movie entertainment!

Be careful of the uncut Mitchell... I haven't seen it, but I hear the baby oil scene is even more horrifying.

I'm also keen on seeing a non-MST Mitchell, I think you've just planned my next purchase. Late Kirk Douglas and Early Steve McQueen 'taint a good thing.

I just watched High Risk, and yes they do use the Stones song.  I loved that whole final with the drug smuggler pilots acting as the heros.  They even saved the damn poodle!  Grade A cinema, that is.
