Question first: What happened to Lancer and his movie making thing. I always looked forward to seeing the next post. Also, who is read yfor baseball, the bedst sport ever, to begin. Speaking of sports, are there any good sports horror movies?

Movie 1: Williard re make
I saw this on Fri. night opening. I must say it is disturbing and even scary and very good. Even my friends who dislike horror movies enjoyed it. I have to say, the rats were by far the best actors, were they real, or computer? Either way they were damn cool. However, I did find the attempted love interest sub plot very droll and unneeded. I have never seen the original, so I can not compare them.

-Spoiler- I did not understand the ending. What did he mean by quiet as a mouse. Also, how come the rats don't kill him. Does Williard still have the rat's loyalty over Big Ben? Is Williard out to make a larger social point, if so, I didnt get it.

Movie 2: My Best Friend is a Vampire. Not scary, but a B movie none the less. Made in the 80s (Im guessing because of the hair). It is a hilarious tale of vampires and their hunter, one of whom is a bumbling idiot. The best part is the parents think their newly turned son is not a vampire, but gay. It is surprisingly corny, poorly acted, and fun to watch,

I have yet to see the remake of "Willard," but have fond memories of "My Best Friend is a Vampire."  In fact, I turned one of my friends onto this flick and he enjoyed it.  The dreamy bit about "we are the children of the darkness" as the dogs flowed by was pretty neat.

I saw Willard last Friday the ending was not like the orignal Willard that one he dies but I guest they want hin to live in this one. My Best Friend Is A Vampire I didn't like it it was lame I made a bad mistake of renting it in 89 or 90 but anyway it was a lame movie just like that other teen vampire movie Once bitten. I forgot that  was good of them  to put Bruce Davidson in the movie if only the picture of him as Willard's father he was the original Willard in 1971.

I remember I saw the original "Willard" at a real drive-in when it first came out -- a bunch of high-school buddies & myself -- 6 of us crammed into a Plymouth Valiant -- had gone to see Steppenwolf, which in those days was still thought of as a pretty big deal rock band by the high-school crowd (Born to be Wild!).  Anyway, on the way back to our hometown, we passed this drive-in near Virginia Beach with "Willard" on the marquee.  There was nobody in the booth taking tickets, and only one other car in the whole lot, but the movie had already started.  In we went, and watched it for free.
I still love that (original) picture.  Bruce Davison was/is very convincing in the title role  -- playing nervous & sweaty really well -- & when Earnest Borgnine gets eaten by the (all real) rats, we all yelled "Gross!!" together.  "Ben", the sequel, had none of the dark tension of the original, and ain't worth renting. One of those great moments.  I want to see the remake, as I like Crispin Glover as an actor.  Anyone see that film where he and Howard Hessman are lost in the desert together?  Glover has to drink the runoff water from his frozen pet dead cat -- cinematic magic!!
