Has anyone seen Roman Polanski's Fearless Vampire Killers aka Dance Of The Vampires? It lifts whole sets from Hammer Films, but boasts a very spooky music score and also marks the last screen appearance of Sharon Tate ( before her murder), which makes it all very poignant. It's a spoof featuring a couple of hopeless vampire hunters, but it provides a few chills as well. It also features the first (to my knowledge) gay vampire and the first jewish vampire - "Oi, have you got the wrong vampire!" - in response to a crucifix. Good stuff.

Bad Brains has a song called Fearless Vampire Killers.  It sounds like a great flick,

I love both the song and the movie.  Roman Polanski's humor really shines in the film.  I give it 4 slimes.

Yep, seen it, loved it!! It's a brillant movie from a brillant director. Hardly belongs on a 'bad movies' forum, but what the heck.

Came out in France under the name: "Le Bal des Vampires" (Vampires' Ball). I must say it's a brillant scene, with mirror and the nasty surprise!!   ;)

It's after this movie that Sharon Tate became Mrs Polanski, right? It's sad what happened to her.

Actually it's the quirky sort of movie I tend to review.  Watching two bumbling fools try to save the world from vampirism (and make a mess of it) was darn fun.

I might have dropped a boo-boo there. I think "Valley Of The Dolls" could've been Sharon Tate's last movie, which is a camp/trash classic with appalling "acting". "FVKs" is a real one-off, and it promted me to re-view Polanski's "Repulsion", which hasn't dated as badly as I originally thought.

"Repulsion" dated? Not at all. The backdrop of 'swinging London' in '65 makes it even more fascinating, for me at least. I think that movie is a masterpiece, right up there with "Psycho." Catherine Deneuve is incredible! This and "Rosemary's Baby" are both far superior to FVK, although that's a much 'lighter' film.

I remember my uncle talking about REPULSION, specifically the "arms out of the wall" scene, and eagerly looking for it for years.  I finally watched it on IFC and was moderately impressed.  Nothing special, I thought, but maybe better after several viewings, which I haven't done yet.  I have an affinity to movies about crazy people anyway.

ROSEMARY'S BABY I didn't like as much.  Maybe because I knew the ending, but it didn't work for me.  The ending just seemed over the top and ridiculous.  I thought it was interesting that THE ASTRONAUT'S WIFE ripped it off so shamelessly, even down to the Twiggy style haircut.  Just goes to prove that even some of my favorite actors, ie. Johnny Depp, can go awry.

Not only does the film feature Sharon Tate, but it also boasts a Jewish and gay vampire.  You cant get any better than that folks.

"Le locataire" (as named in france) is perhaps the darker movie Polanski made.

I guess there's a thin line between "quirky", "good-bad" and "bad-bad". If you see what I mean. Which I'm not too sure, what with being almost drunk with fatigue... I should probably write tomorrow, after I've slept. Forget me.
