Okay, this is the newest "stable" version of phorum.  It fixes a couple of problems and also lets you hide your email address (if you are registered - under the profile).  Plus there is a new preview button.

Everything seems peachy now and I finally think that I have most of the settings the same.  Please let me know if there are any problems.

Wahh?? Everything looks different!! My body is rejecting the change! Everything is centered; I liked the order of the left sided message titles. Also, my name has changed from Scott0 to MC Scott. Not a problem right now, I'm just saying what I see unexpectedly different. Thanks for making this board accessible and so much fun Andrew!

I had failed to check it with IE 6.0 after making one last change to center things.  There is a bug in IE that causes it to do that.  Everything should be acting right now and I fixed your name Scott.

I do not like changing things just to change them, only to improve ease of use.  Hence why the front page and most page formats have remained the same for the past few years.

The new version included a database change and it looks like that caused some problems for some user names (the name displayed when you post).  If anyone notices their name is screwed up, please email me:

I just have one beef with the new board (I honestly can't tell much of a difference other than this).  When you click on a thread to look for what's new, it's not marked  as new so you have no idea what you've read before.  This could be a real pain in the ass in some of these 40-response threads.

I still get the "NEW" marker. In fact, in the changeover, they all went "NEW," but that can't be helped in a situation like that.

There is a discussion going on over at the site for Phorum about the "New" tag problem.  I tried finding and fixing the code myself, but just do not have the time.  With the Phorum team looking at it, there should be word soon.  I have one or two other things that I can try yet too.

Thanks Andrew, I know you are working hard, but the new thing was the best feature. I hope you get it all right. Besides the new, I like the new streamlined look of the threads and how everything is centered. Good job.

I hope you mean that the sections are centered, but text is aligned to the left within that centering.  For a bit the whole board, text included, was centering for people using IE.  It was amazingly annoying.   I went in and edited the code to fix that problem.

I don't make many demands of th BBS, but it it weren't for this post I'd never have known it changed. I still get the "new" marker and nothing is centered. Perfect transparent shift as far as I could tell.

Yes, the sections are centered, the text is to the left. That is a great change for the eyes.

My user name and 'real name' have swapped places.  The 'B6K' has dropped off the author name of all my posts.  Pretty random.  And my profile pictures gone.

Just got the info on how to fix the new tags from a fellow named Phil K over at the Phorum.org site.   I've scooted around a bit and it does seem to be working as advertised.

It was a good bit of work he did, sorting out the differences between the older and newer versions of Phorum.

Is there something I can do to get my old username  (Pete B6K) back without having to make a new one, and starting afresh?
