Dracula's Dog - UK title Zoltan - Hound Of Dracula (1977) is at least true to it's title. In Romania, Russian troops discover Dracula's crypt. The count is long gone (conveniently to the US) but he has left behind his faithful manservant and the faithful manservant's faithful doggy - Zoltan! The Russkies unknowingly revive said man and beast, and are promptly despatched (that'll teach 'em to occupy Romania for 40 years) B-movie veteran Jose Ferrer plays Inspector Branco - he works out immediately what has happened and follows the hound's trail to the US. Zoltan is put to work (note the glowing red doggy-eyes) to find Dracula's only living descendant - who is on vacation at the time, and is none too pleased to discover his ancestry. Cue much awful acting, fantastic coincidences and a "Hell-Hound" that's about as scary as a fluffy toy. Must be one of the worst movies with the name Dracula in the title ever made, although I'm sure there are hundreds of competitors.

The Best!! The Best One of All in this Genre!!!!:
Richard Crenna in:
"Devil Dog:  Hound From Hell!"(approx. 1980(?))
This is SO bad, it beggars description:
The obvious happy puppy (German Shepard/Alsatian) with happy extended tongue, is supposed to be the spawn of Satan --
Scene:  An obvious man, with a visible 5 o'clock shadow-beard, plays the maid in a stunt scene wherein the dangerous lick-puppy sets her/him on fire -- :  Amazingly Bad!!
Scene:  The waggy dog is now revealed to be the Evil Satanic Creature that it is, so the wonderous and scary effect of a COLLAR OF CHICKEN FEATHERS!! around his neck is brought into play.
I will not go on.  Suffice to say, that in this reviewer's self-centered-I'm-always-right-in-no-way-humble opinion, this film is the END of all aspiring Wicked Dog films.
Just see it . . . Not responsible for lockjaw or other injuries resulting  from witnessing the sheer Magnitude of the Ineptitude . . . .

Not strictly a doggy movie but it falls easily into badmovie hell. "The Killer Shrews" (1959). You may well ask "what's the connection?" - the mammals in question are usually about mouse-sized - but this is a B-movie, and the shrews have mutated because of genetic research gone bad. The mutated, flesh-eating shrews are in fact greyhounds that are wearing shaggy coats and visibly plastic fangs. A truly terrible movie.

Devil Dog, Hound from Hell + The Killer Shrews = Real artistic Animal abuse. No dogs were shown respect during the makeing of these films. I forgot about the Chicken feather collar...thanks for bring that up! Like a bad burrito, the image rises from the tomb....Hey, i like doggies, and this ain't fair! The things we do to man's best friend. ............. Still love the Eating the cat whole scene from "Man's best friend"....Thanks ,Andrew.
