OK I am at the end of the rope on this one....RKO 281 was about Citizen Kane and Shadow of a Vampyre was about Nosferatu....Any others..Now they have to be about a specific real film, not like the VERY GOOD urban legends II or Singing in the rain.  I think it would be a fun series but we could only think of these two.

GOOD MORNING BABYLON was about people working on the set of D.W. Griffith's film INTOLERANCE but it wasn't about the entire production.
WHITE HUNTER, BLACK HEART is about the making of THE AFRICAN QUEEN (with Clint Eastwood doing what amounts to a lame John Huston imitation for the length of the movie.)
If documentaries count, BURDEN OF DREAMS is about the making of FITZCARALDO.

Ed Wood covers several of the Grand Master's Films, showing the True Struggles of the Artistic Soul.  It also details Great Classic Actor Béla Ferenc Dezsõ Blaskó's final triumphs, such as the horrify Bride of the Atom and the thrilling Plan Nine from Outer Space .  A truly moving and humbling account.  One hopes for more in this vein, such as a look at equally Famous Thespian William Henry Pratt's Earth Shaking final four pictures, as well as behind the scenes accounts of such Notable and Worthy Films, like Bloodbath at the House of Death , R.O.T.O.R , and the cremé dela cremé, Touch of Satan .  What a wonderful World it would be, if this happens!

It would be wonderful if "My Pact With Cyborg-Satan: The Albert Pyun Story" was made, methinks..

Supposedly, Terror Firmer was set on the making of Citizen Toxie, I guess that might count.

I would actually like to see "Damn that Fig Bucking Octopus: Epilogue of Frankenstein, the hyperactive down syndrome behemoth Conquering the world one minature stomping at a time"

Just a thought...

I just watched my copy of the Anchor Bay release of "Winter Kills". It's a 1979 black comedy/conspiracy flick starring Jeff Bridges, John Huston, Anthony Perkins (who was great in it), Sterling Hayden, Toshiro Mifune, Tomas Milian, and tons of others. The flick is a must for Richard Boone fans - the man has some great scenery chewing moments.

The reason I mention this flick in this thread, is that according to the short documentary "Who Killed 'Winter Kills'?" and the director's commentary, the film was financed by drug money and was shut down several times when the money ran out. One of the two executive producers (the guys who put up the drug money), who were also responsible for many of the 1970s "Emmanuelle" porn films, was killed by one of his debtors while the film was being made. The film spoofs the Kennedys, and many people didn't want it made. Most of the actors and much of the crew were never paid for their work on the film (Boone being a rare exception in one of the funnier stories around the film). Wild stories of incidents in the making of the film and lining up some of the cast. I'll nevber be able to see another Sterling Hayden flick without picturing him in a long beard asking the director, "So, do you like canabis?" as he loads up a large mersham pipe with pot in a crowded restaurant and proceeds to smoke it in front of everyone.

All of this tells me that a great "movie about a movie" comedy could be made based on the making of "Winter Kills".
