Godzilla vs Space Godzilla

Hi!

I have just seen %subj%, which is my first Godzilla movie I have ever seen (well, I did see Gapa when I was six or so...), and it left me rather confused. I assume the plot might be more clear if I saw the other Godzilla movies, but I am not sure I want to do that. Maybe there is some Godzilla fanatic around who could explain things to me? Like why are half of the people trying to control G. with telepathy while the other half want to blast it, the two soldiers switching sides between telepathy and destruction constantly etc. Also, what the heck is up with the minigodzilla? Is it intended as some insider joke or did the filmmakers really go mad?

1.  The explanation of Space Godzilla's origins makes more sense (provided you don't know or care anything about physics and, y'know, sciencey stuff) if you see Godzilla vs. Biollante, which is one of my all-time fave Godzilla flicks and far superior.
2.  The telepathy thing also started with G vs. Biollante, the Mike Sogusa (sp?) character first appeared there.
3.  Baby Godzilla....ugh.  Just don't worry about him.  Pretend he's not there.  Yes, they reall did go mad.  G vs. Mechagodzilla 2 and G vs. Destroyer both have him in different, better-looking incarnations.

Yes, this "Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla" was pretty disappointing.  There are a number of disturbing elements that makes this movie “stupid.â€�

MOGEURA — How is it that Japan has all these giant robots while the rest of the world doesn’t care about national security?  Logic tells me, we — the United States, would have something as well, and more effective against Godzilla.

Why is Space Godzilla trying to kill Godzilla, or destroy the earth?  The movie offers a very lame excuse...

Three dorky G-Force guys, 1 telepathic and 2 scientists are in charge of a project as important as controlling Godzilla — Project T, not likely...

The Baby Godzilla just sucks big time... Next...

The movie is fun because it has lots of kaiju wresslin' and some of the best sight gags ever! The computer screen showing Space Godzilla as a little dot and labled FOE is just hilarious in the ineptitude of modern technology visuality from the japanese even...

Still, the movie is fun enough for some decent time wasting.
