BANDOLERO (1968) - Loved this western starring Jimmy Stewart, Dean Martin, George Kennedy, Raquel Welsh, and Denver Pyle. This film has some fun monents, yet it is balanced with solid western drama and action. Jimmy Stewart is great taking the hangmans place and later robbing the bank was great. Not to mention those conversations with Dean Martin. Great stuff. If you like Stewart or Westerns you'll love this film. It had me cracking up often, but I was rather surprised at the ending with Stewart and Martins characters who play brothers.

Also with Andrew Prine, Will Geer, Sean McClory, Jock Mahoney, Roy Barcroft, Dub Taylor, and Harry Carey, Jr. And directed by Andrew McLaglen, son of actor Victor McLaglen.

Probably the best western Andrew McLaglen has ever done. Notice his film trademark of riders splashing through water. That scene seems to appear in nearly all of his films.

Roy Barcroft had a great scene in the film. Thought I wouldn't recognize him, but, as soon as I heard him speak . . .  He had one of the most distinctive voices in films.

Jock Mahoney was the one I didn't recognize.

Dub Taylor also had a great scene in the film.

Still having kin in Montana, loved the line spoken by Dean Martin as Dee Bishop. "There are alot of goddamn Indians in Montana." And every Indian mentioned by him was in Montana at one time or the other. Which shows some research went into the writing of the script.

Enjoy the film.
