I love this film!

I'm referring to the first one.
I have seen the second one but I was probably 12 when I did...I don't remember it.

I watched the first one on DVD with a friend the other day and he absolutely hated it.

What do you think?

Cannonball Run....Bad or Good?

I remember liking CANNONBALL RUN with Burt Reynolds, Dom D., Sammy Davis Jr., and Jackie Chan is even in it. Its been probably 20 years since I seen it. Wouldn't mind catching it again on Encore or Flix someday.

A couple other films that I remember are THE GREAT RACE and DEATH RACE 2000 and IT'S A MAD MAD MAD WORLD.

I think RAT RACE is of the same catagory. Though I haven't seen it yet.

Did you ever see Jackie Chan in THE BIG BRAWL?

I love 'em...they don't make movies like that anymore.....especially the second one, where it seemed like all these stars were just hanging out with each other and the movie was filmed as an afterthought.

This is a movie that I think everyone has seen at one time in their life if not they should see it. It is well worth it, even the second or third time around. Like it was said before they don't make like that any more. All the different actors in it working together to actually make the movie fun and enjoyable.

Bad but in a good way. Lots of over-the-hill name stars of movies and TV slumming in a big dumb loud movie that made a s**tload of money. Just an excuse to showcase stunts and say cheesy dialogue (it is a Hal Needham movie after all). But I agree they don't make them like this anymore and it's too damn bad. Where are the modern day major studio movies that try to squeeze in lots of people you recognize who can't act (like Terry Bradshaw and Mel Tillis) or faded TV stars (like Jamie Farr, Bert Convy, and Jack Elam) all based around  stories that had been done better by indepedents and low-budget producers years earlier (car chase/race pictures like "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry", "Cannonball!", "Eat My Dust", "Grand Theft Auto", "Death Race 2000", the first "Gone In 60 Seconds", etc.)?

Now hasbeens or non-actors do reality TV shows, and it's just not the same. I'd rather see the modern day version of Doug McClure (who would that be- Dan Cortes?) making fun but stupid movies that have rewatchability like "Cannonball Run II" than doing some insipid "Survivor" ripoff or hosting a game show......
