Why is it that a lot of people seem to dislike these movies? I thought the first one was kind of original and I just watched the sequel the other night. I liked both these movies and I thought the effects and gore in the second one were especially well done.

I have only seen the first one.

It was pretty good.

The scene with the bus hitting the girl made me jump!

I said aloud, "HOLY s**t!!!"

Haven't seen the second film, but I am a big fan of the first instalment. I use to think about it as a thinking man slasher. It has the usual stupid-teens-who are-to-die- soon and some childish humour, but it is eerie, the death sequences are malicious and well crafted and even the characters are less stupid than usual.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I enjoyed both of the movies, but wouldn't peg them as great.  The second should be noted for being pretty gory and I thought the pile-up was well done.

I think the problem is that outside of the Rube Goldberg death sequences and gore, the movies are kind of stupid.  This is more evident in the second where there is no real story or characters to back up the action.  (There's no explanation for Tony Todd either.)  I'm ready to turn my brain off to enjoy bloody accidents from unexpected directions, but I don't know if everybody else is willing to join me.

I'd probably say 3.5 slimes for the pair.

Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

So did I. I knew that there would have to be some kind of accident, but I figured it would just be the star and her friends. I never expected so many people to get turned into roadkill.
