I received this DVD in the mail yesterday (along with THE EERIE MIDNIGHT HORROR SHOW and VAMPIRES NIGHT ORGY).
I immediately knew that I was in for trouble, because the DVD manufacturer couldn't even get the title of the movie right. The actual title is:
THE NIGHT EVELYN CAME OUT OF THE GRAVE. This appears correctly on the front of the box.
HOWEVER, the back cover says: The Night Evelyn Came Out of HER Grave.
To make matters worse, the on-screen menu says: The Night Evelyn Came FROM the Grave.
As for the DVD, it is pretty crappy. It is the uncut, widescreen edition, but I don't think the picture is quite wide enough because some of the names in the opening credits don't fit on the screen and the last couple of letters are cut off. In addition, the picture quality isn't very good . . . the colors are washed out and everything seems to have an orange/brown tint to it. The source material was missing a few frames of film here and there, causing the picture to jump in a few places. There are also several scenes where the picture is scratchy.
And the real killer is, it isn't even a horror movie. It's more of a psychological thriller (a BORING psychological thriller).
It is an Italian film, dubbed in English. Everyone has British accents, and the characters keep referring to London, even though the movie was obviously NOT filmed in the United Kingdom.
There was a decent amount of gratuitous nudity, though.
Luckily, I paid less than $10 for this movie. Unfortunately, THE EERIE MIDNIGHT HORROR SHOW and VAMPIRES NIGHT ORGY are from the same company, so I guess they will be equally crappy in quality. I'll keep you informed.
