About 10 years ago, I saw this thing on TV-I have no idea if it was a movie, series or what-but it had to do with someone time-travelling through America's past. The running joke was that the hero kept bumping into Abe Lincoln, who was also time-travelling, trying to eliminate John Wilkes-Booth in the past. Lincoln would suddenly pop out from behind a tree or something, take a shot at Booth, miss horribly and pick off some innocent bystander. At the end, the hero finds himself outside the famous theater and witnesses Booth's assassination of Lincoln. As Booth flees, he runs past the hero and says something like "I don't know who that guy was, but he's been trying to kill me my whole life, and I finally got 'em!" I remember this thing being pretty funny, and I'd love to try and find it. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone?

Wow, I have no idea what this is, but after your description of what sounds to me like the funniest running joke of all time, I want to see it too.

That does sound like a fun TV series. I never watched the show, but was it SLIDERS or something like that?

No.  Definately not Sliders.  I have no earthly clue...

But I'll be checking back to see if anyone else does.  It sounds pretty dang funny!

I was thinking Quantum Leap at first but have since dismissed that idea...

I also have absolutely no idea what show it was.

I agree with Brother Ragnorak, I don't know the show but that sounds like a really funny gag

Yeah, it definitely wasn't "Sliders" or "Quantum Leap" or any of those better-known time-travel shows. If it was in fact a TV series, I'm thinking it was more like  an episode of a comedy series-you know, where they'd have different skits or stories each show.

I'm just replying so I can watch this thread, so I can find out if anyone comes up with the answer.

Nothing I've heard of, but it does sound pretty funny... along the lines of Red Dwarf, where they end up in Dallas, 1963, and keep wrecking Lee Harvey Oswald's plans to assassinate JFK...

I've been keeping silent, cause I really don't know, but...

Could it be the "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" TV show?

Just a thought...  Have no way of knowing...
