THE OUTLAW (1943) - TCM showed this one today. Really enjoyed it. It stars Jane Russell in her first movie and a couple other actors I didn't recognize. The film is directed by both Howard Hughes and Howard Hawks and it was actually made in 1941, but due to censors regarding Jane Russell it was released two years later. Well, there aren't to many Westerns from the 40's that I like, but this is one of them. You'll enjoy Jane Russell and the poorly acted witty dialogue from the Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett, and Doc characters. Some comical moments and music in this one.

Hey, did anyone ever see this one. I actually enjoyed this one and wouldn't mind owning a copy of it. I've seen it on DVD for under $5, but I'm not sure about the quality.

Yep, Scott. I've seen this one a couple of times. As you mentioned it was the first movie to star Jane Russell's breasts. It's a pretty good one, with a really good performance by Walter Huston as Doc. Howard Hawks directed some of this before it was taken over by Howard Hughes and you may notice he re-used the part where Billy get's his ears notched by bullets in Red River.

TCM played some really good flicks today, I've been watching it since about 8am. Did you catch Dodge City earlier today? That is one of my favorite westerns as well as one of my favorite Errol Flynn movies.

I'd still be watching TCM, but my girlfriend took charge of the tube and is watching The Sound Of Music! The HORROR!!!! So, I'm pouting in another room. AHHH Love.

No, I've never seen DODGE CITY, but saw it listed. I'll definately be trying to catch that one on TV when they show it again. They gave it 3 our of 4 stars. Sounded good.

Deej that scene with the ears being shot was to funny. I was almost expecting them to shoot off his nose or something. Even my daughter was cracking up. Some great B moments for all you on the board. Catch this one if you can.

I was about 13 or so the first time I saw The Outlaw on AMC(back when it was a classic movie channel). I remember giggling like a schoolgirl at the ear shooting scene, CLASSIC! I also remember, as a pubescent boy, being thoroughly impressed with Jane Russell's enormous.....acting talent

You've got to catch Dodge City, Scott. It's friggin FANTASTIC. It's a old fashioned goodguy Vs. badguy western, goodguy gets the girl and they ride off into the sunset...no, they really do!!! One of the best, in my opinion. Cool barfights, cool shootouts, and Errol Flynn is wicked cool!

Wow, just read the imdb.com reviews of DODGE CITY (1939) starring Errol Flynn and Oliva de Havilland. They say some good things about it and by the way it was directed by Micheal Curtiz who directed CASABLANCA (1942). Looking at the cover I think Hollywood Video in my area has a copy of it. I'll be checking into that around the new year. Thanks again for the lead Deej. Always looking for interesting films.
