Edward D. Wood, Jr. greatest asset was his "never say die" approach. He took what he had and did what ever he could to see his work come to fruition. He didn't let anyone stand in his way of making his dreams a reality.
If you look at early singing auditions for
AMERICAN IDOL you'll see the same type of personality, but without the sole resourcefulness.
I've thought of it as an innocent childlike quality that never waviers despite a constant barrage of "you'll never make it in this business". Think of kids performing in a grade school play. They're just doing their best. That's what makes the effort so endearing.
