I just got this along with Shocker and the People Under the Stairs in the "Wes Craven Collection", I must say when it comes to some of Craven's other works this one stands out as being particularly thought provoking as well as using more facts than most of his other stuff. Not very gory, but has a select number of incidents that look quite painful.

Yeah, death by nutsack puncture is pretty freaky - one doesn't forget things like that.

"I wanna hear you scream."
"Aughhhh!"
"Not good enough!"
[hammers nail]
"AUUUUGGGHGHHHHHH!!!!!!"

Now THAT'S acting!

While on a journey, Chuang Tzu found an old skull, dry and parched.
With sorrow, he questioned and lamented the end of all things.
When he finished speaking, he dragged the skull over and, using it for a pillow, lay down to sleep.
In the night, the skull came to his dreams and said, 'You are a fool to rejoice in the entanglements of life.'
Chuang Tzu couldn`t believe this and asked, 'If I could return you to your life, you would want that, wouldn`t you?'
Stunned by Chuang Tzu`s foolishness, the skull replied, 'How do you know that it is bad to be dead?'

But he didn't die from it. Anyway, unless you got an infection, having a nail driven through the skin wouldn't kill you.

I really didn't like this movie but I think it's because I heard it was a zombie movie. Well the guy said it was a "Sorta" Zombie movie. And the tag line "Don't Bury Me, I'm Still Alive." works as what the movie is really about but to me it sounded like a zombie movie tag line. And the cover I saw has a guy ,who's pale as a sheet and he's coming out of a coffin. The guy looks like a p**sing zombie! I think the guy who designed the cover must have been trying to get Zombie people to rent it by tricking them into THINKING it's a zombie movie. The movie did freak me out a few times though. I'll give it another shot.

RAINBOW AND THE SERPENT is a voodoo type movie that is pretty good film. THE BELIEVERS is kinda along the same lines.

PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS is a fun and creepy movie. That wacko in leather was to funny.

Ash, in a nutshell it's about a journalist who travels to Haiti, i think it's Haitie, it's been a while since i've seen it. anyways he travels there to cover voodoo and ends up falling prey to the evil side of it. it's worth checking out i think, it always used to creep me out when i saw it as a kid.

It's about a guy who goes to Haiti to investigate real-life zombies (or zombi's). He learns that they're basically people who have been poisoned with a special drug that makes them seem dead because it slows down their metabolism and pretty much puts them into a waking coma. While there he manages to p**s off the corrupt local police in his quest to find out how the drug is made and to get some for study. There are some supernatural elements near the end, but most of the film is more of a thriller than a horror movie. It's also inspired by a true story.

I didn't mean Bill Pullman's character, it was the voodoo doctor. He was the one who died from it. Agreed, Bill had some mega pain.
