I watched the season opener for THE SURREAL LIFE.  I don't care for "reality TV" and probably won't watch another episode.  The has-been celebrities paired up this time around are:  Tammy Faye Baker-Messner, Ron Jeremy, Erik Estrada, some white female from the "Las Vegas Real World", Vanilla Ice, and Tracey Bingham.

Of the group it seems like Ron Jeremy comes across as the most personable.  I guess screwing thousands of women on camera doesn't leave you with anything to continually prove to people.  Vanilla Ice is the one who won't be able to reconcile with his past success.  Everyone else comes across as this show being a springboard to relaunch their careers and put them back on top.  Tracy Bingham, seen still working and possibly using that as a means to flaunt her status in front of the others, comes across as the most superficial.

The only interest was in seeing how disappearing from public eye effects people who had a taste of celebrity and just how far they'll go in an effort to regain attention.

Interstingly, Erik Estrada has been a popular actor in Mexico.  Unless he's trying to get back into the American market, I don't see why he would be seen as a has been and trying to get himself back into the spotlight

I have no idea about this show in particular (haven't seen it, don't know anythinga bout it), but I must say the pairing of Tammy Faye Baker and Ron Jeremy on the same program is certainly interesting ....

I think the actual title of the show is THE SURREAL WORLD (shows you how much I pay attention to reality TV).

The pairing is not as interesting as you would think.  Both Tammy Faye and Ron are much older than the rest. They never achieved fame.  It was more or less thrust upon them.  As a result, both of them are grounded better in reality.  They are in touch with their weaknesses.

What would make the show more of a circus is to have a roomful of "divas".  People who have have grown to think the world is all about them.
