Gee I get into work around 12:30, and not one post yet on Return sweeping the Oscars?

Sorry..was paying attention.

"Did kind of bother me that Sofia Coppola cleaned up at the oscars."

Cleaned up?  She got thrown best adapted screenplay as a bone.  What bothered me about that is that she got the bone because of who daddy was.  I haven't seen Lost in Translation yet (probably will just for Bill Murray), but the other Sofi-directed movie I've seen ("The Virgin Suicides") was absolute garbage in my opinion.  It made little sense and the social commentary was about as subtle as an anvil dropped from six stories.

Best *original* screenplay.  Best adapted went to . . . take a wild guess. . .

Peter Jackson, et al., for Return of the King.

I haven't seen Lost in Translation, so I can't tell whether the Oscar was deserved or not.

Probably will,  I didn't know what night they were on and only realized LotR had one anything because there was something about it on the IMDB site when I was looking for something else ("Creepazoids", I think)

It was a great (set of) movie(s) but Oscars don't interest me

Hell yes! Crispin was awesome in Willard, who deserved some recognition for it.

They usually don't interest me either.  I only watched because there was nothing on tv that night, I wanted to see how Return of the King would do, and I didn't have to get up in the morning on Monday.
