I'm not in much position to heave stones, since I've been ripping off Andrew for years.  Still and all, there's a new book out entitled ShockDecember.  The concept is that a trio of guys watched 21 horror movies in two days and then wrote short reviews of them.  

One of the three, Tom Scalzo, has obviously visited these pages.  (Well, not 'pages,' but you know what I mean.)  His reviews include lists entitled both "Things I learned from this movie" and "Things to watch for".  

Don't get me wrong, the book is amusing enough, and the cheap price ($11) takes the sting out of the fact that there's not a whole lot of content here.  (It's self published via iUniverse.)  However, it might have been nice of the guys to at least toss Andrew a nod in the foreword or something.

By the way, Andrew, I don't know if you have time to read the board, but if so, I hope you're well.  We miss you, boss.

I'll try and read it myself but I agree they should totally have put Andrew's name in therre somewhere. Are you postive they didn't say anything about him?

I'm pretty sure.  I haven't read all the reviews yet, so I guess he could be buried in there somewhere.  However, the book is a very slim 122 pages, and he's not mentioned in any of the obvious spots (the foreward, etc.).

Again, I've nothing against the book, but credit should be given where it's due.

To be fair, humorous "things I learned" lists have been circulating on the Internet for years ("Things I learned from Soap Operas", "Things I learned from horror movies"... etc.).  "Stuff to watch for" is an even more obvious category.  Not saying the guy didn't rip Andrew... but it's not quite the open and shut case that "Ice Ice Baby" ripping off "Under Pressure" was.

I agree with Eirik.  It's not really all that original an idea.  I like the way Andrew uses it, but it's not so unique a concept as to require attribution

Who knows?  I know that the concept came out of myself and a few friends watching movies and dryly observing all the crazy things that happen - hence the lessons learned and stuff to watch for.  They may have never seen my site, may have seen it so long ago that only the ideas for those two sections remained, or may know that I also use those.  Whatever the outcome, I guess I am happy that the format seems to be one that people like.

Still here at present, just plenty to do.  Some nights, like tonight, Katie works late and I pick up Jenna.  Between dinner, then cleaning up, then bath, then some playtime, then a little milk before she goes to sleep - the little one keeps me busy.

Good to hear everything's well on your end.  

As for the book, well, the tone of the remarks sounds pretty familiar.  I'll leave it at that, and let other folks draw their own conclusions if they get around to reading it.
