Heard yesterday that they're remaking "Bad News Bears."  The Hollywood remake machine is out of control.  Maybe "Best Remake" should be an Oscar category.

Yea, Hollywood should not be in the movie business anymore. They just have to much trouble doing anything original. They don't have the true spirit of true dreammakers.

The ones with the new ideas don't have the money and the ones with money don't have any ideas. Oh well, that is the problem in all facets of human life. We are force fed the mediocre by the mediocre. They should just get out of the way.

Just because you put something on film dosn't make it a "movie".

the Bible said it best.."The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.   Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us." -Ecclesiastes 1: 8-9

At one level Gecko the scripture is correct and I love that verse, but no human is an exact duplicate of a nother human. Each is different and new.

Actually all things are old and new all at the same time. : )

Hey I'd dig a new version of The Bad News Bears!

I'm anxious to see who's gonna star in it.

I love the original and probably would definitely go see the re-make.

Looks like Billy Bob Thorton is going to be playing the character that Walter Matthau made famous so many years ago.  It also seems that it is going to be written by the same guys who wrote Bad Santa, so you can only imagine how crude and fun this remake will be.

As for other remakes, it's getting to the point of nausea.  I read today that Michael Bay is going ahead with his remake of The Amityville Horror.  And you can't forget the remakes of Police Acadamy and Back To School that are down the pipeline.

Know what? It just means I'll be saving a lot of money by NOT going to the movies as much. Sad but true.

What's next, a remake of GOIN' COCOANUTS (that long-forgotten movie from the 70s starring Donnie and Marie Osmond)?  Or maybe a remake of Linda Blair's ROLLER BOOGIE?

Someone is also working on The Poseiden Adventure.  Who are they going to get to play Shelly Winters (she actually did her own underwater swimming)?

They're also re-making "The Manchurian Candidate".

Actually, Bad News Bears is kinda one of those film archetypes that they've already done a million remakes of, just with different sports, a la Mighty Ducks. You just don't notice it as much cause they change the title.

But the remakes really are begining to swamp the cinema in ridiculous fashion.

How about remakes of Van Helsing and Hellboy.  Or Star Wars Episode #3?

Here's a concept if hollywood MUST remake a film:

QUIT REMAKING CLASSICS. When you remake a good film you can only go down.

Try remaking films that totally suck, from there you can only go up and perhaps make a descent little film

Of course, the point is not to make a good film, but to cash in (or try to) on the 'feel good' of the first success.
