There are some mighty crazy posters for movies overseas out there, and I decided to point a couple of them out...

Polish poster for "Blue Velvet" (you've probably seen this one) http://www.lynchposters.com/US/files/LYNCHPOSTERS/BV-Polish.htm

Czech poster for said film (you most likely have NOT seen this one)

And now, for a couple of Halloween ones:

Japanese Halloween Presskit (heh heh heh heh)

I pointed this one to the curator of the Myers Museum and told him I thought it looked like a monkey...he said I was right. :) The close-up proves it! http://www.freeyellow.com/members8/myersmuseum2/mikejapfaceGL.gif

Czech Halloween poster (yikes!)
http://www.freeyellow.com/members8/myersmuseum2/h1czechGL.gif

Italian Halloween 6 Poster (let's all say it together now...he's got a woman on his mind! *coughs*)

There are more crazy posters at http://www.polishposter.com

Which crazy posters  have YOU seen?

I have not seen any of the posters listed. Neither am I personally familiar with any "crazy" posters. But, if one is interested in "crazy" posters, one may want to try the book "Attack of the 'B' Movie Posters" / edited by Richard Allen and Bruce Henshenson. A collection of posters from "B" movies from the days of the silent film to today. Some of those posters have to be seen to be believed. Enjoy

Super sweet links, Nukes! Thanks!

I'm sorry to say I have no links, but German posters for Japanese kaiju flicks would often tack "Frankensteins Monster" (sic) and "King Kong" into the title even when no such monster appeared. For example, the German poster for the original Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla is titled King Kong Gegen Godzilla (!!!) and Son of Godzilla reads FRANKENSTEINS MONSTER jagen Godzillas sohn.

These are from the Toho-Sci-Fi poster-collection book Gojira Daizenshuu (ISBN 4-88718-364-X), which I got back in '96. Might still be available from Books Kinokuniya (they have an online site and if your city has a "JapanTown," chances are they're there too.)

On my latest trip to Iceland -- just got back last week -- I took some snaps of things like a poster for Scary Movie 2 in Icelandic.  I shot a pic of a cover for The Great Lebowski video in a small vid. shop -- the cover was a scene of Jeff Bridges and John Goodman staring at a woman's foot.  I have no recall of this scene in any American advertising or even this scene from the movie.
