No, not the John Carpenter/Christopher Reeve travesty, but the original VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED and the (sort of) sequel CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED are now available on a double feature DVD.

I had seen classic VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED several times in the past.  This was the first time I saw CHILDREN OF THE DAMNED, and I thought it was as good as, and in some ways better than, than the original.

VILLAGE (as its title implies) takes place in a small village in the English countryside.  All the women in the village give birth to super-intelligent, blond-haired children with the ability to read and control people's minds.

CHILDREN takes place in the big city.  It's a different group of kids this time, brought to England from all over the world to participate in a scientific United Nations study.  The kids take control of a dog and an adult woman and move into an abandoned church where they can all be together (because they are stronger when they are together).  This movie provides some potential answers, whereas the first movie raised a lot of questions.

Highly recommended.

Must... display... obscure... nerd knowlege... first movie was based on "The Midwitch Cuckoos" by John Wyndham, the "Day of the Triffids" guy. Great title.

Both are great films and I really need to pick them up on DVD.  George Sanders gives a great performance as the teacher and really holds the film together.

Unfortunatly I haven't seen it on the shelves around here yet on DVD.  What's the price tag on this anyway?

Skaboi:

I bought it online from Deep Discount DVD.  I'm pretty sure it was less than $14.
