MY DARLING CLEMENTINE (1946) - Good Western directed by John Ford and starring Henry Fonda, Victor Mature, and Walter Brennan. The DVD has the pre-release version of the movie and a special feature all about the this alternative version. Darrryl Zanuck didn't like Fords film and cut it up and UCLA and AMC worked together to restore this visually effective film. You really get the feeling of being in an old West town. The story is suppose to be about Wyatt Earp in Tombstone ending with the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral, but the film is shot in Monument Valley instead of Tombstone. Besides the great atmosphere and location shot this classic is a bit distracting with Victor Mature as Doc Holliday and that mustasche of Henry Fonda. Wyatt Earp seen almost weak in demeaner compared to the Doc Holiday in the film. Mature is a poor pick to play Doc Holliday compared to the Doc Holliday played by Val Kilmer in the more recent film
TOMBSTONE. Walter Brennan is good in the film.
