Funny, when I was in high school, I used to look at the serious drama students and figure they had a life of performing British farces for old folks ahead of them.

Well, yesterday, I happened to interview one of those guys. I don't really know him personally, but I do remember him from high school. A while back, I had heard from his father (who I've dealt with a couple of times for work) that he was working as a professional actor. Anyway, he moved back to town, and is working on some projects that were worthy of an article.

Of course, I asked him what he's been doing over the years. Turns out, this guy, among other film and TV roles, was the Jackal in 13 Ghosts.

I don't know if you just assume that nobody from your own home town is going to have a significant part in anything that well known, but this really surprised me.

I have to admit, it's the coolest thing I've heard in a while.

Wasn't The Jackal the ghost with the square metal cage around his head?

If so, he was one vicious mofo in that movie!
If I recall correctly, he did the most damage of all the ghosts in it.

There was a guy who was in plays in high school with my cousin and that guy was on SNL quite a bit. He is usually in the background. He was also one of the Sprockets dancers.

A guy I worked with in radio was a contestant on Average Joe.

Yep, that was the one. That's probably the coolest thing. This guy was not only in a well-known movie, he was in a horror movie, playing a badass in monster makeup. I'd have to say my original assessment of the drama class, when I was in high school, was shortsighted, to say the least.

You can look him up on IMDB - Shayne Wyler (although Wyler wasn't his name in high school). He was also in Shanghai Noon, by the way.

Now, I've got to watch 13 ghosts again.

The jackal!?  Sweet!

The Torso is still my favorite of the ghosts but the Jackal was pretty badass.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

A girl I knew in high school was on Jerry Springer once, quite a while ago. This was before they'd settled the format totally into the form it has now. These day's, she'd have too many teeth to be allowed on. This episode was more like a Jenny Jones in a way.

Back in the 1980s I worked with a guy who said that Meg Foster was his babysitter when he was a kid and that she used to always talk about becoming an actress.  I thought that was pretty cool, even though I'm not a Meg Foster fan.

Wow.  If Meg Foster was your babysitter, you would always behave for fear that she might eat you or something.

I went to school with David Miller who played Mason Dixon in "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes," does that count? He was always something of a brainiac, whether that has anything to do with him becoming an actor, I can't say, but he was voted "The Student Most Likely to Succeed,"

Wow, that's pretty kick ass... I agree, it is really cool when you come across semi-famous people.

Believe it or not, my x-girlfriend's cousin was none other than Wonder Woman, AKA: Linda Carter.  At first I thought she was pulling my leg but she showed me their family album. I thought it was pretty neat.
