DR. RENAULTS SECRET (1942) - Monsterfest on AMC showed this film starring George Zucco as the Doctor. Its about a doctor who transforms an ape into a almost human. Kinda like the earlier ISLE OF LOST SOULS only they never show any experiments rather they only show his not fiiting in with the crowd very well and this causes him to commit a couple murders. There is a part in the film were the one guy who dosn't think the apeman is quite normal locates the Doctors book and the book shows you a page by page transformation of the ape into something much more human looking. Talk about saving on special effects !
