Ten extremely generous people joined me in donating funds to Operation Thank Andrew, and in the process we raised a very respectable total of $370. As promised, the money was split evenly and donations of $185 were sent on the morning of Nov. 9th to both Spirit of America, an organization that provides money to our military personnel in Iraq to aid them in specific humanitarian tasks in that country; and Operation Gratitude, who has shipped over 21,000 care packages to our fighting men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Yesterday, of course, our soldiers and marines joined with newly trained Iraqi troops and began the highly dangerous mission of seizing and securing the city of Fallujah, a stronghold for terrorists. I wish I could say something profound regarding their valor and skill, but I don’t have the words. All we can do is hope and pray for their success and safety, and that years from now they may look upon a free Iraq and know they had a hand in creating it.
To everyone who donated, thank you so much for taking part in this drive. I don’t have the words for you, either.
