I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE (1958) - Classic 50's Sci-Fi about aliens taking the place of humans. It's what you love from a 50's film. Good b/w cinematography and Sci-Fi storyline. How did she get the doctor to believe that her husband was an alien? In the end it dosn't matter has the remaining humans go after the alien ship in the woods in the final moments.

We're all just victims of circumstance

We had another thread about this a while back. We discussed the  TV remake on UPN with Richard Burgi playing the alien husband.

I love this film!!
You gotta love the "double-neck" effect on the monster itself when finally revealing its true form.  Really cool costume!!
I think a lot of the monsters on the TV "Outer Limits" were inspired by that costume & elements were certainly copied.
The remake, called "The Astronaut's Wife", with Johnny Depp & Charlize Theron, is very good -- not spectacular enough for the modern science-fiction audience, I guess -- more of a human/alien interest story -- it didn't do well at the boxoffice, but I think it's worth rediscovering on DVD.  Not a "bad" film in any sense, but a terrific little low-key study in tension & paranoia.

I've been meaning to put ASTRONAUTS WIFE on my list. The estrangement between the husband and wife was well done in I MARRIED A MONSTER FROM OUTER SPACE (1958).

It's not what you say, it's how you say it.

I really like I MARRIED A MONSTER but I didn't care much for THE ASTRONAUT'S WIFE.  A matter of taste perhaps.

The scene with the thunder was interesting. Could you imagine your spouse during a thunderstorm saying "what was that?". You'd be very concerned if you just married husband didn't know the sound of thunder.
