Oh wait I mean Savini is in negotiations to kill himself IN land of the dead. Interesting bit of hews here as well as Romero stating he's interested in having Asia Argento in his film.

Yeah Dunners, I had read this recently as well.  It seems that Savini will have a fairly big role in the film, along side Dennis Hopper.

He is one of the people who leave the city compound to get food for the richer residents.  So far, the word is that he will run into his zombie biker self from Dawn Of The Dead and get to kill him.

I can't wait for this flick to get made.

Sounds like a perfect in-joke for the fans.

I've only been following news about the film vaguely, (mostly what gets mentioned here) but I am hopeful this one turns out good. Which is why I have to ask: Am I the only one who felt a twinge of apprehensiveness when I read the name Dennis Hopper above? .

Yaddo,

Yeah, I too felt it was a strange casting choice for the flick.  But, you do have to consider that some people might go see it just because Hopper is in it.

True, Hopper still has his fans and some marquee value in genre circles despite some of his recent work. Once I would have counted myself among them, hell, I even liked that shaky thriller he acted in and directed "Backtrack".

I guess the profile of him I saw on "60 Minutes II" (of all places) about a month ago just didn't jibe with finding out that he was in this. He was talking about how good his life is now, and the only real disappointment is that he wants to have one last great role, or even better, to direct another classic film. He seemed to feel that his film career was lacking a defining Dennis Hopper work. I guess he doesn't consider "Easy Rider" to be "his" alone, which it isn't IMO. Sounded like he wants an Oscar to tell the truth.

It would be great to see Hopper get an Oscar.  I'd love to see him in a character driven drama.  This guy has serious talent, but it just seems that he gets s**t roles (i.e. WATERWORLD).

I honestly think that he will lend Land Of The Dead a sense of maturity, and hopefully not a sense of camp.

I read it on a website:

www.homepageofthedead.com

I was on the cast listing. Hell, they even have a photo of him as a zombie! No kidding!
