Punks not Ded sez Rich

I actually saw this movie opening day but I didn't get around to review it till now. The plot goes theirs a balance between heaven and hell. No direct influence on humans. Anyone that tries to screw around with the balance is taken out by John Constantine. Of course something big is coming thats breaking the balance.

The biggest problem with the movie is that it can't decide if its a horror flick or a action.  Its medicore at both levels anyway. The acting by Keanu Reeves is nothing special and a notch below his "Martix". Anyone thats a hardcore fan of the comic WILL be disspointed especially at the end.

Besides that I found it watchable and worth a rent when it comes out on DVD.

I can't believe they used the story of "Dangerous Habits", one of the best "Hellblazer" arcs, and then censored everything daring or imaginative out of it. Apalling.

This said, it keeps the thriller / supernatural ratio of the original and Keanu is not that bad. I won't buy the DVD, but I'll understand people who haven't read the comic and say they liked the film.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

I really enjoyed the film, mainly because I just love these sorts of films: Heaven Vs Hell, angels and devils etc.

It also was well edited, had nice effects that for the most part weren't overdone, and had a good mix of humour throughout most of it [I particularly liked how the director handled the bathtub scene!]  Yes Keanu's acting was a bit stale, but at least he is good at it.  Apparently the lead in the comic is British, but I don't really think that should really be a problem when changing it.

I have got a copy of the comic off a friend but have yet to read it.

What was so daring and imaginative that they left out?
