Army of darkness

A question to all you well informed guys,
Is there or is there not to different endings on Army of Darkness. One where Bruce gets home to the present and one where he ends up in a cave 10000 years from now holding a primitiv stick in his hands?

yeah there's two.

the normal when he goes to the present, back to S-Mart.

and another when he takes one drop too many and wakes up 100 years later, and all the cities have been destroyed. "I SLEPT TOO LONG!!!"

Actually, the "sleeping too long" is the original director's cut ending.  The S-Mart ending, which I actually like a lot better, was demanded by the studio.

Will is right. The "sleeping-too-much" thing was part of a pre-release edition which could be seen in the Festival de Cinema Fantastic de Sitges and other festivals, and it also featured more footage (probably, the last battle was longer). However, it looks like they changed several things on the last minute, ending included.

Raimi and company have stated they are open to making a fourth installment.  I hope they do.

Due to the different alterbate endings, both can be used for the EVIL DEAD 4 sequel (if that comes to pass). It could begin with the alternate scene of Ash getting the potion from that old wise man and then sleeping in the cave. Then it cuts to the thearical ending when Ash is back at S-mart. After that, it cuts back to the alternate ending featuring Ash awakening from his S-mart dream and finding out that "I slept too long" and the film begins with the plot of the Evil Dead causing the end of the world and only Ash can defeat the evil. Something like that!

It may not be TOO ORIGINAL, but it works.

A friend of mine had a bootleg of Raimi's original print (the one you mentioned above).  It is one instance where I agreed with the studio.  My friend told me that almost every shot in the climatic battle was snipped and even moved around, which was good because the battle version I saw was lifeless and disappointing (and went on forever).  Also the 'slept-too-long' ending was more depressing than really funny (it was also too eighties post apocalyspe hip for me to swallow without a grimace), but I wouldn't mind seeing an Evil Dead movie set there.  Mad Ash v The Evil Dead, no that's a movie!

Thanks for the kind complament on my idea, Chadzilla. It's the type of creative idea that you can appreciate in a wacky way! It's not too fancy, and it's not too cheesy. But it works just right.

Its also on the DVD. It was the original plan but also didn't get great reviews with the test veiwers. The s-mart ending is much funnier and that it does leave a opening for a sequal but I really doubt it. Evil dead 2 was the best. Sooo funny but not as chessy as the first. Come on a tree rapes a chick.
