List.
Got a short notice call that a film crew working for the History Channel needed extras who owned thier own equipment for a WWII movie. Me and my buddy drove 12 hours to the Deleware/Maryland/PA trisate area from Louisville, partly to be in a movie, partly for the $100 a day.
We got treated right strait from the start. NFL Films was in charge and had us set up in nice Howard Johnson motel rooms, full catering ect. We were told the plot of the movie once we were trucked(in a WWII 2 1/2 ton Jimmy 6x) to the first location.
Two GI's meet in southern France(part of the 63rd Infantry Division) become buddies. One finds a bag of valuables being smuggled out by a German officer. Most of the "Valuables" are junk taken from Jewish camp inmates, but hidden inside are diamonds. They quickley hatch a plan to hide them in a left over WWI fighting position, and come back after the war. Plan doesnt work. One guy is injured and sent home, the other killed later in Germany just prior to VE day. Years later a 300lb guy and a French journalist got wind of this and actually found the diamonds. The GI who was wounded is still alive and was a technical advisor.
We mostly sat around for back ground shots, the only really exciting scene was teh mortar barrage. Lots of fun though as we had a director that constantly asked us if this how GI's would have done this or that. THe three main actors who played the two main characters and the "jerk" Lt. were great guys who really looked the part, even if we did have to teach those NY boys how to hold a rifle. I got to carry a bazooka part of the time, but mostly toted my little carbine.
I think it will be a good flick, its supposed to be half movie/half documentary so there will be cut ins with the survivng GI and others involved in the actual events. Look for it one year from now on the History Channel, the title being "Blood from a Stone"
