Braindead aka Dead Alive is screening tonight [Friday 13th May] at Federation Square in Melbourne at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image as part of its 'Freaky Fridays'  Late Night Cult series, showcasing other cult classics such as:

The Fearless Vampire Killers [aka Pardon me, but your teeth are on my neck]
The Asphalt Jungle
Foxy Brown
Forbidden Planet
Bullitt
The Honeymoon Killers
The Detective

Ok, so pretty much everyone here won't be able to make the screening, since it starts in three hours, and travelling from Overseas can be a bit slow, but looking at the website I found in the comments about Braindead a quote from none other than our esteemed host Andrew from this very website.

ACMI and Braindead

Needless to say I had a bit of a chuckle to myself, then I wondered whether they need [or actually did] ask for permission to quote the website, not that it really matters so much.

Anyway, I certainly am going to have fun tonight.

As suspected, Braindead was even better watching it on the big screen with a big crowd of people.

The atmosphere really made it great viewing.  Hopefully now ACMI cinemas will be convinced to run a Zombie Series after the Late Night Cult series ends soon.

Oh how I will be loving that!

There's alot to love about the home-video revolution, but I agree with you that there's still something wondrous about seeing a fun movie at the theatre, dean!
They've been running a buncha midnight showings of cult classics at one of our local theatres here in Pensacola, Florida(stuff like "A Clockwork Orange", "The Warriors", "Dawn of the Dead", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Rocky Horror Picture Show", y'know, nothing everyone here hasn't already likely seen) and one damn thing or another, I keep having to MISS them!  I hear it's been going well, though, so hopefully they'll keep it going!  These are especially fun, because you get to see them with fellow freaks and weirdlings!  I know, because I went to their Halloween showing of "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and had a blast!
