The idea itself is not bad.  I just did not enjoy the movie that I have to judge it by.  Maybe this new version will be better.  Heck, it could be a really cool study in having high technology, but being unable to support it.  Who is going to maintain the helicopters and tanks, plus the ammo?  However, I think it will be all action movie with very little though required.

I agree with Andrew. Having just recently watched this, I was abhored by the movie's disregard for simple recoil physics, gasoline use, and samurai effectiveness. The idea however was very clever, and if expanded upon and touched up, I believe a higher production cost remake as well as a new script would do the original plot justice.
