Sorry folks, due to our annoying spammer, logging in is now required to post.  That should help me deal with him quickly in the future.

I also made a quick change to the comments system.  To make a comment, one just has to type in a password that appears next to the block.  That should prevent an automated spamming tool from making 70 posts in the comments (I deleted them all).  At least, until the spammer gets smart or, more likely, smarter software.

Thanks for the change Andrew.  The spammer was getting a bit excessive.

It's too bad it had to come to this. One a-hole has to be such a problem that he causes things like this. Myself? It won't affect me as I'm always logged in anyway but it's just a shame.
Thanks for taking care of things Andrew.

The way he dug up certain old post it seemed kinda personal. What a shame they spent so much time doing something like that. They could have enjoyed the messageboard and talked about movies. Again what a shame.

Well, that explains that.  Thank-you for the explanation. Now I won't have to post a thread asking why the change. See what happens when you're away for a week.

I saw another message on this board about a "poker spammer" or something...  Have you guys had any trouble with some wierd icon popping up on your Desktop called "PartyPoker?"  I've deleted it over 5 times or more in the past few days, but it keeps reinstalling itself.   If you guys can help me get rid of this, I'd appreciate it greatly.  Thanks!

SmokeShadow, try Ad-Aware or Spybot. Free downloads for both and they should remove your problem.

So it finally came down to it, eh?

I've been thinking about doing that on my board for a while, but so far I've been able to keep things under control while still staying open.  It will probably come to it for me eventually too.

I disliked doing so, but the spammer idiot was getting a little too annoying and disruptive.  I like to keep the signal to noise ratio low and all the friendly mods do a great job.  However, with a chronic problem I always look for an engineering level solution.

Sorry to be a bit of a useless fool, but what exactly is the comments system?  I guess it's either something I don't use, or isn't a problem for me anyway, since I haven't noticed any change at all since I'm automatically logged in normally.

Just curious as to if there was a different part of this site I had yet to discover!

Anywho, great to see the Random Thoughts updated as well!

Dean,
I believe the comments section is where you can read or add your own comment to the movie reviews. If you check a review and scroll all the way to the bottom, there is a link to read or add comments.
