Finally, the long-awaited DVD release of this 1970s car-chase classic!  I received it in the mail the other day, along with RACE WITH THE DEVIL.

I first saw DIRTY MARY, CRAZY LARRY at the drive-in.  It was part of a double feature with VANISHING POINT (also available on DVD).

As for DIRTY MARY, CRAZY LARRY, the DVD has a crisp, sharp picture and the audio has been remastered in 5.1 (although, they didn't really use the 5.1 sound to its fullest capabilities . . . they could have gotten away with using 2 channel stereo).

In addition to being one of the top car-chase movies ever made, it also features a very good performance by Vic Morrow as the cop who will stop at nothing to catch Peter Fonda, Susan George and Adam Rourke, who are on the run after a supermarket robbery.  The entire feel of this movie is "cool 1970s," with Fonda behind the wheel of his souped-up Dodge Charger staring at the road through amber sunglasses.

Exploitation at its finest, with better camera work and acting than you might expect!

I saw this one in the theater. Not a film I particularly enjoyed, but a memorab le film.

I'd occasionally catch the last half of this on the tv.  Haven't seen it broadcast in years.

Loved the irony of the ending.

Would really like to see DIRTY MARY, CRAZY LARRY again. Remember it on possibly HBO in the 70's. All the car flying and spinning its wheels and the commericals, so it may have played on regular TV, not sure. Been trying to see all Peter Fonda films and would like to give DIRTY MARY, CRAZY LARRY a proper viewing.

I originally saw DIRTY MARY, CRAZY LARRY at the theatre when it was released. I have seen it on TV twice since then. I am envious of Burgomaster for having seen VANISHING POINT on the big screen as I only caught it on late night TV in the late 70's until I got a copy on VHS, then DVD with the missing scene with Charlotte Rampling. There's nothing that compares to a 70's gas guzzling chase flick. (:

I've yet to see Diry Mary, Crazy Larry.  I'm a huge fan of Vanishing Point, so I do believe I'll have to check it out on DVD.  Thanks for the heads up Burgo.
