The "Prototype" thread got me to thinkin'...
If you were gonna take over the world...would you try to use robots, or geneticly grown monsters?
By that i mean....".Aliens", or "Terminators"?

Personaly, i think either is problimatical...
Both A.I., or liveing being, can go rogue, and then your on feces lake with a leaky raft!
Me? I'd try to build battle suits, and hire good mercs...
Wait...then i'd have to worry about renegotiating the contract! Arghhh!...
man, its just so tough to take over the woild, ain't it?

How about cybernetic aliens? The best of both worlds! Certainly I'd go with terminator type machines but I would have a destruct feature built into them that if they got outta line, I could pop them and not worry about it.

Personally I would defer all responsibility to my subordinates [who are quite rash and irresponsible] so that whenever they fail I can make a big speech about how they have lost my faith in them and proceed to drop them in a tank of acid, all the while hoping that noone notices that I do bugger all around the place.

And whilst mechs or monsters are a pretty nasty combo for world domination, I would just go for the whole 'destroy the whole planet's population and start afresh with an easily manageable population of half animal, half human slaves'

This would, of course, be achieved via tainting the world's cola supply with a mind bending chemical agent which gives the consumer an irrepressible urge to watch The Trial of Billy Jack over and over again ala Alex in a Clockwork Orange.

Ah, the wonders of science...

How about Aliens from "Inner Earth"?
Those Aliens some twisted conspiracy-freax believe in that they have rescued Adolf Hitler with their Aryan UFOs (Type VRIL-7).
They live in the Inner Earth, where they have UFO-bases as well ass highly developed technology and weapons.
They are blond, blue-eyed and two to three metres tall. Their greatest enemies are the GREYs (those Roswell Aliens) and Outer Earth Conspirators (governments). That would be a cool plot for a new big budget movie, wouldn´t it?

Huh? You mean you don't believe that? Wow...I thought everyone believed that one.

Hmmmm. Robots are definitely more controllable. I mean, they can malfunction, become self-aware and so forth, but generally, they are built to be programmed and/or controlled.

Living monsters are much more problematic. You have animal instincts to overcome. They're generally either dumb brutes who don't know friend from foe or they are intelligent enough to think for themselves and perhaps even resent you for making them what they are. You can try mind control, but that always fails, and they generally get really p**sed off at you when it does.

Definitely machines for me. Although, if you look at the movies, they don't really have any better track record, in terms of world domination.

Then again, there was Collossus. He won. And there was the Dark One, who lost in the end, but managed to rule for some time with an army of two robots, some sock puppets and a giant spider leg. Oh, and a chick with big boobs. So, machines have succeeded.

Oh no...I mean...NOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo....
Look out for the Canadians everybody! AndyC has obviously put way too much thought into this to have just come up with it for this thread. He is planning world domination! Remember that MAME machine he is supposedly building for gaming? That's really a MAIM machine for controlling his robots! We're all doomed...

We're not doomed if we can get in on the ground floor of his plans....  :)

Yes, but imagine fascist Alien troops, they would be very controllable, too.

Lagomorphs: menace or underutilized resource?

I would simply team up with a large-headed lab mouse; he might not succeed, but he'd never give up!
