ABC News is reporting that well known anchorman Peter Jennings has passed away at home after a bout with lung cancer. Peter Jennings was a Canadian by birth who never finished high school, yet was able to make his way and attend Carleton University and Rider College. He obviously excelled in journalism as he rose to the role of anchorman for ABC World News Tonight in 1983, after the sudden passing of then anchorman Frank Reynolds. Peter is survived by his wife, Kayce Freed, and his two children, Elizabeth and Christopher.

Whaaaaat? He wasn't particularly old, was he? I'll always remember Jennings from his early 90s period hosting ABC News. I would watch him (a local TV was offering it with subtitles) everyday before going to highschool.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Proof that even Canadians can make it here in the U.S. When he died, he was still a Canadian citizen. Never giving up his Canadian citizienship for American citizenship.

With his death, there have been recent changes in all three anchorships at the major networks. Both Tom Brokaw at NBC and Dan Rather at CBS, recently retiring. And a fourth major change comes at the end of this December with Ted Koppel officially retiring from ABC's "Nightline."

Strangely, he did become a US citizen in 2003.

Thank you for the correction, LH-C. You, of course, correct. After  maintaining his Canadian citizienship for so many years. while living in the U.S., I had forgotten that he had finally gotten his American citizenship.

This also signals the death of unbiased journalism. Now it's the Daily Show vs. Republican-centric "we're just here to tell you how to think" journalism. What you or I think doesn't matter... it's what Bill "Oh, Really?" thinks that matters :P

Somebody hunt down a 60's Spider Man story called "Spider Man No More." John Romita has Peter Jennings as the newscaster. He also shows Jameson on Johnny Carson.
