Hi

I am an independent filmmaker and  needed to create a decent soundtrack within 2 weeks time. Has anyone used the Smartsound Sonicfire Pro for their productions? Is it as good as what's presented here? Seems to good to be true. Comments appreciated

Why not just buy Apple's Final Cut Pro 4.5, which comes with Soundtrack, a loop based music creation program? With a student discount, it's $200 cheaper than buying Smartsound's box set, plus you get professional quality editing software. And, you can buy extra loops by the gross for only a few extra bucks. If you're looking for quick music that sounds good, and you want a great editing program to boot, buy Final Cut Pro.

Smartsound Sonicpro sounds nice, but while the general idea is different from Apple's music program, all the bells and whistles sound very similar. Apple's Soundtrack can be adjusted manually to fit any length of time, as can Smartsound. You can crossfade in both programs, and music variety for both programs ranges from classic to industrial electronic.

For startup, it seems to me that Smartsound might be a little barebones. It may not initially come with the same amount of music that Apple's Soundtrack does and cost for additional music CD's may be expensive. Therefore I suggest a loop based music program for your needs and I wish you good luck.

If you're willing, I'm sure some of us on the board might like to know what you plan on doing with this music and what kind of movie you are going to make. Also, where are you filming?

Hope this helps.
