This Thanksgiving Weekend in NYC, see Bad Movies on a big screen and heckle with comedians at the...

The 2nd Annual

*BAD MOVIE CLASS FILM FESTIVAL*

This is NOT a show, this is a class. Each of these 7 films will feature a noted historian giving a lesson on why these cinematic explorations are so important. Also in the audience will be comedians from the improv, sketch, and standup world.

There is an opening lecture and critique, but it doesn’t end there. While the movie plays, students are encouraged to make vocal observations.  These 7 classes will feature some of the strangest attempts at storytelling in human history. (sort of like a mix between Mystery Science Theater 3000 and a college level Film History class)

The high point of the weekend will feature “The Lesson of TROLL 2.” This movie is the pinnacle of poor filmmaking. The movie features absolutely no Trolls, only goblins. The films has received such comments on www.imdb.com like “total crap”, “HORRIBLE”, “a movie that by all physical laws of the universe, should simply not exist.” Troll 2 is hands down the worst movie ever made.

There are other classes of note: “The Lesson of Death Drug”, a rarely seen film about the drug PCP starring Philip Michael Thomas (Miami Vice) that features a 5 minute music video by Thomas for no reason,  “The Lesson of Robot In The Family”, a childrens movie filled with racism”, and “The Lesson of Alien Warrior”, a movie where a white alien comes to earth and is the son of God. There will be free pizza at the Saturday Nov 27th 11pm class.

When: Friday –Sunday Nov 25th-27th  (times various, see detailed schedule below)

Tuition: Each class is $5 per lesson and will also feature VHS movie giveaways.

Tuition can be purchased in advance via www.smarttix.com or at www.juviehall.com

Where:
Juvie Hall
At The Gene Frankel Theater
24 Bond Street, BSMT (btwn Bowery & Lafayette)
6 to Bleeker Street
BDF to Broadway/Lafayette

Schedule For The BAD MOVIE CLASS Festival 2005

FRIDAY Nov 25th

7pm The Lesson of Alien Warrior (1985)
An alien being is sent to Earth from his home planet with the assignment of stopping Great Evil. Great Evil turns out to be Mr. One, a Black drug dealer with a gang of Hispanic minions, whose hobby is raping White women. The alien, who decides to use the name Buddy on Earth, makes it his personal mission to rescue all the White people he can find, while putting an end to Mr. One's life of crime.

9pm The Lesson of Death Drug (1978)
A young man in Los Angeles dreams of striking it big as a singer in the music business. One day he gets signed to a big record contract, but along with the fame and money he develops an addiction to the drug PCP. Phillip Micheal Thomas (Miami Vice) intros and outros the film, and his ramblings make you wonder if he has indeed succumbed to PCP himself. The (clearly made in the 1980’s) music video makes no sense being in the middle of the movie. A must see!

11pm- The Lesson of Rock N’ Roll Nightmare (1987)
At an old farmhouse, a family mysteriously disappears at the hands of evil. Years later, hair metal band The Tritons comes to the farmhouse, whose barn now features a 24-track recording studio. Lead singer John Triton gets the band to perform their first night in the farmhouse after dinner, and weird little beasties suddenly appear, and strange things start to happen.

SATURDAY Nov 26th

7pm- The Lesson of Mandroid (1993)
In his hidden laboratory deep in Russia, Dr. Karl Zimmer has invented the Mandroid, a humanoid robot which follows the motions of a man in a special control suit. He has offered the invention to the USA, who have sent Smith and Wait from the CIA for inspection. However Zimmer's partner Drago has different plans, wants to sell Mandroid to the military. The night he tries to steal Mandroid, he becomes exposed to the highly toxic Superconn. But he can flee and won't give up on Mandroid, even though he's terribly disfigured.

9pm- The Lesson of Troll 2 (1990)
A young child is terrified to discover that a planned family trip is to be haunted by vile man-eating monsters out of his worst nightmare. His attempt to save his beloved family is assisted by the spectre of his deceased grandfather. Also, there are NO trolls in this movie, only goblins.

11pm- The Lesson of a Surprise Bad Movie**
Saturday’s last movie will be one pulled from the archives of Bad Movie Class. It won’t be announced until it is projected. Come roll the dice and be surprised by what you will see. **FREE PIZZA for all students! (last year's surprise movie was Leonardo DiCaprio in the experimental and banned "Don's Plum")

SUNDAY Nov 27th

7pm- *The Lesson of Robot In The Family (1993)
When a scatterbrained father (Joe Pantoliano) finds himself in need of a quick $1.5 million, his family and their unreliable home robot begin combing the streets of New York for a priceless, lost relic. The robot named “Golddigger” speaks like your old senile Grandfather, who is racist. This has to be seen to be believed. *SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE IN THE THEATER WILL BE the robot GOLDDIGGER, himself!

I am thinking about going to this. I leave in NYC and hangout in the bowery all the time.

Why couldn't they do something like this at MacMaster or Mohawk?

Oh well.  I'm just going to have to content myself with the WORLD PREMIER of MARINA MONSTER on the 28th of November.  Guest have a chance at a role in the director's next film,  VAMPIRE DENTIST:Bloody Vial.

God bless local B-Grade college movies.

if anyone comes to the fest and says "bad movies.org" they get to see the rest of the night's movies for the price of one class.

There is an extreme long shot, but Judah Friedlander (American Splendor, project greenlight) will teach one of the classes. Don't know which one. [He's a huge bad movie lover]
