GOODFELLAS (1990) - Directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert DeNero and Joe Pesci as mobsters. Another film like BOOGIE NIGHTS (1997) were they get into drugs for a sad ending for all the characters. This is the first time I've viewed it. It played on one of the pay channels recently. One of the better mafia films.

A true classic. Check out "Casino" by the same director, is sort of a enhanced "Goodfellas" set in Las Vegas.

Scott,

If I had a top ten list of my favorite films, Goodfellas would be somewhere in the top 3.

I've seen it 40-50 times in the last fifteen years and the film just gets better and better.  I highly recommend picking it up on DVD and watching it again.  By far one of the best films of our time.

yeah it always amazes me how people accuse this film of glorifying that lifestlye yet in the end most of the people who get powerful either end up dead, in jail, or in the witness protection program. not to mention it's based on a true story.

I'm a huge mob movie buff. I own several of them- with "Goodfellas" ranking very high on my list of favorites. But even though I own "Casino", I think it's one of the "worst of the best" mob movies around... I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they really, really loved mob movies.

Yep, that is true.  I actually read a news article about Henry Hill the other day.  He was locked up for threating to kill his current wife.

That man is nuts. I remember hearing he had come to the public eye after the release of the film, something which breaks the terms of the witness protection program.

One of my favorites.  I've probably seen it 20 times.
