In honor of FURIOSA, I thought I'd start yet another another "100" list.

I specified "Mad Max"-style specifically to try to exclude the separate "zombie apocalypse" genre. I'm pretty sure people won't read this post and will include zombie apocalypse movies, though, and I won't try to police them. But hopefully we can stick to non-zombie post-nuke apocalypses! I want to see if we can come up with 100 of them. And I especially value recommendations for pre-ROAD WARRIOR examples of the genre.

Anyway, I'll start with the movie that inspired me to start this thread:

1. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)

I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Oh man, thanks for braving the headache and compiling that list!

1. Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024)
2. 2019: AFTER THE FALL OF NEW YORK (1983)
3. THE BLOOD OF HEROES (1989)
4. A Boy and His Dog (1974) - (this is the first movie I think of when I think of the MAD MAX milieu before MAD MAX. A lot more sci-fi, but the general desert junkyard vibe is the same.)
5. CHERRY 2000 (1986)
6. FIST OF THE NORTH STAR (1986)
7. Gunhed (1989)
8. HELL COMES TO FROGTOWN (1987)
9. Hybrid (1997)
10. PLANET OF THE APES (1986)
11. RADIOACTIVE DREAMS (1984)
12. RATS: NIGHT OF TERROR (1983)
13. RETURN TO FROGTOWN (1992)
14. SIX-STRING SAMURAI (1998)
15. SOLARBABIES (1986)
16. TEENAGE CAVEMAN (2002 remake)
17. WARRIOR OF THE LOST WORLD (1983)
18. Zardoz (1973)

I might as well add the original MAD MAX to save people the trouble.

19. MAD MAX (1979)

26. The Exterminators of the Year 3000 (1983)
27. Battletruck (1982)
28. Deathsport (1978) (I came across Warlords (1988) & Dune Warriors (1991) while looking for this one, but haven't seen them.)

Oy..... In the notion of a futuristic free-for-all, the subgenre gets way more convoluted!!!

29. Steel Dawn (1987)
30. Robot Holocaust (1987)
31. 2020 Texas Gladiators (1983)
32. Phoenix the Warrior (1988)
33. Land of Doom (1986)
34. Knights (1993)

The last three are about a female protagonist..... Could be, Furiosa was a wee bit behind the times.....
