Now, we all have our own ideas for what makes a good movie.  Well, I ascertain that any movie worth its salt has a song that was created specifically for the movie itself.  How can you forget the late 80's early 90's tendency for movies to include rap songs that are made for the movie you just watched.

T.U.R.T.L.E. Power for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The Monster Squad song.

Even Who's Harry Crumb had it's own rap song.

So what do you folks think is the best song made specifically for a movie?

ghostbusters.  who can forget ghostbusters!  and i'm including the sequel as well.

bobby brown and Run DMC both had their own songs for the movie [can't remember who did what though, i think both were in number 2]

they are great!

After watching the incredible two headed transplant fully that song "It's Incredible" is hilariously bad. I like the strawberry alarm clock's "pretty song from psych-out" which is the main song of psych-out. My favorites would probably be songs by Goblin in movies- nothing with lyrics or singing just compositions.

for sheer memorability and pop-culture significance, it's gotta be Ghostbusters.

but some of my personal faves are Attack of the Killer Tomotatoes and Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

for soundtracks it'd be danny elfman and mark mothersbough.

Wasn't that weird chant during the end credits of Troll made just for that movie?

And Star Crystal is another.

Two of my favourites:

He's Back (the Man Behind the Mask), performed by Alice Cooper for Friday the 13th: Part 6.

Eastbound and Down, by Jerry Reed, from Smokey and the Bandit.

Quite a few of the Bond themes are also good. Ghostbusters is a classic. I also kind of enjoyed Paul McCartney's Spies Like Us (great movie too).

"Goldfinger"
"Springtime For Hitler" from "The Producers"
OST for "Koyannisqatsi"
OST for "Sorcerer"
OST for "The Professionals"
OST for "Patlabor 2"
Lots of Ennio Morricone
That funky jazz/rock music in the "Lone Wolf And Cub" films. I so wish I could find a soundtrack album of this.

The Ghostbusters theme song was entirely original. The producers first approached Huey Lewis And The News about doing the theme song for the film. They declined and the producers hired Ray Parker Jr. to do the theme song. Huey and Co. sued when they heard the song, because they felt it was musically too similar to their hit song "I Want A New Drug" to be coincidence. The case was settled out of court for an undisclosed, but quite large according to Huey, amount.

The opening credits from "The Blob"
Not my favorite, but it gets huge points for camp, and no one mentioned it yet.

Mr. Henry and Yaddo picked the best ones, but I like Goons BLOB opening music. I just can't remember is it mentions the Blob during that music.

Good one, Susan!

So let's not forget Queen's other contributions, to "Highlander" and "Iron Eagle"
