I watched Werewolf by Night.

It's short with not a lot of time for characterization, but it's got it's moments.  Man-Thing's appearances are great, and how Ulysses Bloodstone set up a machine to play marionette with his own corpse is nicely creepy.  The black and white was also a nice little nod to the classics of old horror.

If I had a complaint theough it would be that for a movie called Werewolf by Night, there's not a lot of werewolf in it.

IT'S ABOUT THE SECOND COMING (1982): Preachers explain what will happen during the End Times and a disco-dancing hedonist with an Eric Estrada haircut imagines himself rejecting the Mark of the Beast; a lot of Biblical re-enactments are scattered throughout, almost at random. Tim Ormond takes over the backyard Biblical epic business from his departed father Ron, with the same sort of disordered scripting but more focus on STAR WARS-inspired special effects: this one has laser beams! And the destruction of Nebuchadnezzar's statue by an explosive asteroid is nearly impressive. It's actually the most entertaining of the Ormond's work since IF FOOTMEN TIRE YOU. Watchable as a bad movie, in normal terms it's a 1.5/5.

I SAW THE TV GLOW: Two misfit teenagers become obsessed with a paranormal TV show, leading them into delusions that persist into adulthood. Melancholy and increasingly disordered, with only hints of the harsh realities that drive the characters into their escapist schizophrenia; by the end, it echoes VIDEODROME. 3.5/5.

"Glorious" by Kate Hudson. Yes, the actress. She's not bad.

Started Outer Range, a paranormal drama set on a Colorado ranch. Surprising ending to episode one. Promising.

I remember when this was first announced on The Site Formerly Known as Tor (now Reactor). On paper, the premise is interesting, but there were some red flags. One was how the Evil Ranchers are presented as being Evil because they seek to turn a profit. Which is pretty inane, since the only ranchers not interested in turning a profit are stupid and/or incompetent ranchers who quickly get buried in a mountain of debt. A couple of posters made some snarky cracks about this discrepancy. Not long after, articles announcing movies and streaming shows were set up as Comments Closed.

The first episode doesn't explain the cause of the feud between the neighboring ranchers, but I suspect there's a backstory that's a lot more involved than just turning a profit. Sounds to me like people on the site leapt to conclusions about the character's motivations without seeing the finished product?

The show's publicity department should be held accountable. Here's a relevant snippet from the show synopsis included in the announcement:

"They are pushed further to the brink when the Tillersons (the gaudy owners of the neighboring profit-driven ranch) make a play for their land."

The adjectives in the parenthetical phrase aren't strictly required, with the disapproving tone (what with them being the rivals of the protagonist clan) implying that those traits make them intrinsically Bad People who are violating the natural order. Of course, you might read that sentence and come off with a different impression.

I see what they're getting at, but seems like a tempest in a teapot to me. Oh well.

Quote
48. The Messengers (2007)

this movie almost didn’t get made… on the day filming was set to begin, some guy came running onto the set shouting “DON’T SHOOT THE MESSENGERS!!!”

(I’ll get me coat)

Earth is visited by a GIANT ANTIMATTER SPACE BUZZARD! Gawk at the amazingly bad bird puppet, or chuckle over the silly dialog. This is one of the greatest b-movies ever made.
