- Billy - Young boy who loves horror comics and movies. His dad wants to change his habits.
- Stan - Billy's dad. Tries to throw away the comic and is just a mean dad. Gets voodoo'd.
- The Creep - A representative of the comic book. Shows Billy all of these stories one last time.
- Characters unique to each story are detailed in the plot section.

A father takes away his son's horror comic and throws it in the garbage. The skeleton from the magazine shows up to let the kid see all five of the stories in the comic one last time.
This show is great! Written by and starring Stephen King, and directed by George Romero (NIGHT, DAWN, and DAY OF THE DEAD). The five stories titles and story lines are as follows:
FATHER'S DAY
Bedelia - Killed her father, while making him a cake on Father's Day, and has the nerve to visit his grave on the anniversary of it. Choked to death.
Nathan - Bedelia's dad. Comes back from the grave for some cake.
Hank, Richard, and Sylvia - They all share in the money inheritance. Most are beheaded in some way.
A man killed by his daughter on Father's Day returns from the grave searching for his Father's Day cake.
THE LONESOME DEATH OF JORDY VERILL
Jordy - Stephen King! A farmer that dies a lonesome death.
Based on The Blob. A farmer finds a meteor and accidentally breaks it open, spilling a blue liquid. Strange weeds start growing from the crater and on anything the liquid touched, including the farmer.
SOMETHING TO TIDE YOU OVER
Richard - Leslie Nielsen! He is not funny in this role as an insane and jealous husband. Killed by Harry and Becky.
Harry - Ted Danson! He's not too cheery when he's killed. Drowns.
Becky - Richard's cheating wife. Drowns.
Two lovers are buried up to their neck in the sand at low tide by an insanely jealous husband.
THE CRATE
Henry - Henpecked professor. Hates his wife.
Dexter - Horny professor. Gets distracted from coming on to woman by finding the crate.
Mike - Unfortunate janitor who finds the crate. Can no longer play the violin. Heck, he couldn't play a harmonica anymore.
Charlie - Unfortunate student who tries to measure the bite marks on Mike's shoe.
Wilma - Henry's henpecking wife. Fed to the monster.
A janitor at a college (between semesters) finds a one-hundred and fifty year-old crate; he and a professor open it. Inside they find a monkey-like creature with a huge appetite. Another professor, Henry, decides this could be the key to the divorce he's been wanting.
THEY'RE CREEPING UP ON YOU
Upson Pratt - Hateful jerk. Figures with a name like that. Killed by roaches.
White - Black building superintendent that Pratt doesn't like and racially insults often.
Mrs. Katsenmeyer - Mad widow. Wishes Pratt a horrible death.
An old, hateful company head that lives in a germ proof, airtight apartment is battling roaches. After he insults the crying wife of a man whose company he took over, prompting the man to commit suicide, thirty thousand or so roaches show him that nothing is airtight and teach him a lesson.
My favorites from this were always "The Crate," and They're Creeping Up On You." During "Creep" you can feel the roaches crawl on you. This show is a good one for a lights-off movie with the wife. Lots of good shocks, enough cheesiness to be fun, and the willies. |

| Things I Learned From This Movie: | |

- Some guys will do anything for a piece of cake.
- People who have weeds growing on them are afraid of doctors.
- Never open an old crate, but, if you do, look close before sticking your arm in it.
- Roaches seem to be in tune with the wishes of recent widows.

| Richard taunts Harry over the closed-circuit system he set up to watch the spectacle. Harry responds with verbal hatred. Heck, there is no reason for him not to curse the bastard with his last breaths (actually his last breaths will be sea water, but I digress).

This movie has a very psychedelic style to it, especially "Father's Day". "The Lonely Death of Jordy Verill" is hilarious, "The Crate" is satisfying, "Something To Tide You Over" is alright, save a certain Cheers actor, and "They're Creeping Up On You" is a classic. See it.

What gives the film such an appeal, is the comic book outline. Of course, the top story, is the one with E.G.Marshall being plagued by thousands of roaches. Also, the Father's Day tale is creepy, and somewhat reminiscent of the Grimsdyke story from Tales from the Crypt(1971). Of course I am refering to the two main characters of both stories.

HAH. I'd forgotten about the "WHERE'S MY CAKE!?" line. That's one of the funniest moments in the histery of film.

I've always been a fan of "The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verill." Funny for the most part, but becomes very disturbing near the end...to me, anyway. What a way to go....

This is one of my favorites! Although my favorite line is "Just tell him to call you Billie!" from The Crate. I think that's my favorite story, too, although I love them all! This movie is wonderfully cheesy-and I mean that with utmost respect. Also, this is the best acting I've ever seen Leslie Nielsen do... He's very convincing in his role. I must have seen this movie 100 times. Classic!

I've watched it since I was 6 years old.Always thought it was good.Never scared of it.I'm twice that age.The crate was
my all time favourite(that and some of the Lonsome Death of Jordy,but that was when I was very young.).My parents always said the zombie from F. Day was M. Jackson(well I know what they meant now!).Again,the Crate was Brilliant(I'd
love a Crate 2.) but the creature could be the yeti.Not as cuddly as some people would think.2ndly, this site's review was good as well("The what I learnt" didnt say anything about the reasonably poor "Something to tide you over".)
I'd give the film 85%.
